The NCFE T Level in Education and Childcare (Early Years Education and Childcare specialism) offers students the opportunity to develop knowledge and understanding of childcare settings and the varying needs of children and young people from 0-19 years of age.
The Level 3 qualification is a combination of studying at college and undertaking an industry placement and is perfect for anyone looking to prepare for a career in working with children and young people, as well as offering a stepping stone to those looking to progress on to higher education, including higher level apprenticeships.
As well as studying core subjects within the education and childcare sector, industry placements are a crucial part of the T-level. Students are expected to complete a minimum of 315 hours per year in an industry placement – giving real work experience and the opportunity to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviour required to work in a childcare setting.
T Levels require students to undertake both a technical qualification and an industry placement with an employer. Students are also required to work towards the attainment of maths and English if they have not already achieved grade 4 at GCSE.

If you do not meet the requirements, you will be offered a suitable alternative such as the CACHE Level 3 Certificate in Early Years Education vocational pathway instead.
How is the T-Level assessed?
As part of the technical certificate, learners will study:
Learners will be assessed on the ‘core component’ through two written examinations and an employer set project. The core component is graded A*-E and Ungraded (U).
As part of the specialism in this qualification, learners will also study the following units:
The additional units are assessed through practical based assignments, graded between Distinction, Merit, Pass and Ungraded (U).
Achievement of this qualification requires students to demonstrate evidence of higher-level skills in analysis and evaluation and academic writing and higher-level study skills are supported throughout.
Students will be assessed across a range of practical situations which are relevant to becoming an Early Years Educator.
Assessments require students to apply their learning from a range of units, preparing them for higher education and supporting their ability to succeed at university, or higher level education should they progress on this route.
T Levels require students to develop their research skills. For example, they are required to investigate, explore and analyse research for practice in education and childcare. This equips students with the important skills that will prepare them for the depth of research
they will be expected to demonstrate in their higher education studies.
Students who have studied the T Level in Education and Childcare will be able to evidence the values and behaviours set by employers in the sector, preparing them for the world of work.
A full T Level qualification is achieved from grades across the full qualification and work placement. Students who do not pass all elements of their T Level will get a T Level statement of achievement which will show the elements they have completed successfully.
