NCFE CACHE Certificate in Awareness of Mental Health Problems – Level 2

OVERVIEW

This part-time course is designed to increase learners’ knowledge and understanding of mental health and mental well-being. Successful completion of the units required will allow the learner to develop in-depth knowledge and understanding of mental health. It will also support progression into relevant employment within the health and social care and education sectors.

This qualification will focus on the study of mental health and mental well-being to support different occupational areas and offer breadth and depth of study, incorporating a key core of knowledge and understanding.

There are no formal entry requirements, but candidates should be prepared to write assignments and commit to independent study.  Experience of working with or caring for vulnerable people within the health and social care or educational sectors is desirable however, the course can also be accessed by those interested in progressing to work in these fields. This programme could also support a CPD opportunity.

The course is assessed by a tutor or assessor using a range of methods. This could include completion of an e-portfolio, written assignments and professional discussions. To achieve the Level 2 Certificate in Awareness of Mental Health Problems, learners must successfully demonstrate their achievement of all learning outcomes and assessment criteria of the units as detailed in the qualification specification.

Completion of this course provides a continued professional development opportunity and could lead to further study within education and the health and social care sector. Achievement of this qualification could also strengthen applications for job roles within relevant employment within the health and social care and education sectors.

Potential employment opportunities may include a range of job roles within school settings, care assistant in residential settings or supported living, healthcare support workers in community and primary care environments and healthcare assistants in acute health environments.
