All of our courses require a commitment of one day per week. This is intensive and our immersive programmes help learner’s make progress. Our courses are taught by highly experienced and qualified ESOL lecturers.

Pre Entry
Our Pre-Entry courses are the perfect way to begin your journey into the English language. Covering reading, writing and speaking and listening skills, our learners soon start to speak basic English phrases and recognise key vocabulary. This is an immersive course which promotes speaking from day one. The length of time spent in the Pre-Entry group is dependent on the progress made by the student.

Entry 1, 2 & 3 and Level 1 & 2
The Entry 1, 2 & 3 and Level 1 & 2 qualifications are part of a suite of ESOL Skills for Life qualifications which are designed to provide learners with the knowledge and skills required to communicate effectively through reading, writing and/or speaking and listening in their everyday life, study or the world of work. NOCN ESOL improves lives and enhances career prospects, with many learners progressing onto further study or employment.
All of these qualifications are suitable for learners aged 16 years or over. These qualifications will provide learners with an opportunity to:

  • achieve a qualification that enables the learners to focus on the acquisition of reading, writing and/or speaking and listening skills within the English language,
  • focus on the practical skills required to learn English,
  • progress onto the functional skills qualifications or GCSE English or other vocational study.

None required. Learners will be interviewed by college staff before entry.

Learners can progress onto the next ESOL level or may apply for other college mainstream courses depending on the level.
