This is a one year full-time, practical, work-related course that has been designed to enable learners to access Higher Education (following successful completion of the Certificate in Health and Social Care) and will also support progression into the workplace.
It covers a wide range of areas including Safeguarding in Health and Social Care, Psychological Perspectives in Health and Social Care and Reflective Practice.
Changes to the way the Government funds courses for students aged 16 and over means that instead of a single course, students are required to complete a full time study programme (whether they come to college or stay on at school). This means:

Level 3 Certificate in Health and Social Care. A satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
All those who wish to access higher education and/or work with adults in health and social care environments.
The course is assessed by your tutor or assessor using a range of methods. This could include direct observation in the workplace, a portfolio of evidence or written assignments.
Potential higher education opportunities could include Nursing, Midwifery, Medical Science and Investigations, Paramedic, Social Work, Residential Care Management, Housing or The Probation Service.
If you want to get a job straight away you could work and train in; social services, health centres, registered care homes or the NHS.
On successful completion of the one year programme, learners can progress to university via UCAS, or other higher education such as HNC, or into employment.
