BTEC First Diploma in Music – Level 2

OVERVIEW

This programme is designed to give you a broad understanding and knowledge of music with a dual focus on live performance and the latest technologies used in music production. Over the course of the one year programme you will develop further skills in production, performance, composition and music technology. You will also gain an insight into the music industry though lectures delivered by current industry professionals and have the opportunity to take part in masterclasses provided by world-renowned musicians and producers.

You will study core modules listed below:

  • The Music Industry
  • Managing a Music Product
  • Music and Production Analysis

Additional optional modules will also be studied, including some of the following:

  • Introducing Music Performance
  • Introducing Music Recording
  • Introducing Music Theory

There are no formal entry requirements.

Modules are internally assessed with the exception of an externally set assessment for one of the core modules.

Successful learners can apply to continue studying on one of our level 3 music programmes here at South Tyneside College. Full advice and guidance on progression routes and opportunities will be offered throughout the programme.
