CACHE Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning Level 2 (16-18)

OVERVIEW

This course is available for young people (16-18 years old) who would like to support children aged 5 years and above in a school setting. This is a one year programme that will allow the learner to become a qualified teaching assistant at level 2.

On this programme you will learn about the development of children and young people, how to safeguard them and look after their health and safety. Each week you will spend three days in college and two days in a school setting where you will develop the knowledge and skills to allow you to work with children. DBS vetting is required for this programme to allow you to work in schools with the children.

Study Programme

Changes to the way the Government funds courses for students aged 16 and over means that instead of a single course, students are required to complete a full time study programme (whether they come to college or stay on at school).

You will need a satisfactory DBS check and two GCSEs at grade C (4) or above, one must be English Language or maths. You will also study maths and English whilst at college if you have not already achieved a grade C (4) or above.

There are no exams on this programme but learners will be assessed via taught written assessments and vocational competencies whilst in placement in each unit.

Any learner who completes this course can progress on to the STL3 programme (subject to the requirements of the college). Some learners may be able to progress on to the Certificate in Childcare and Education if they have four GCSEs including maths and English Language at grade C (4) or above.
